The language has been dominant in the continent to the extent that it overshadowed most local languages in some countries.
This is one of the problems Professor Lumumba pointed out in a powerful message to all African leaders.
According to him, the powerful countries all over the world have dominance to their own local languages and not English.
He pointed out Norway, a country that teaches in their own dialect known as Nowish, the likes of Germany also use German.
In parts of Asia, countries like China use their own language known as Chinese, Indians are known for Hindi and Korea also teaches in Korish.
However, it is not the same in African countries. His frustration is directed towards many who use English language as a yardstick to judging intelligence.
“Go to Norway they teach Nowish, Go Denmark it is Danish, Go Finland they teach in finish, go to China they teach in Chinese, go to Japan they teach in Japanese, Go to Korea they teach in korish, Go to Poland they teach in Polish. Then come to Africa we are bosting who is more eloquent in English, we see English as measure of Intelligence” ~ Professor Lumumba said
Known as a Lawyer and former Director of Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission, Professor Lumumba has long ago been dedicated to educating Africans on the need to appreciate their true self and stop living in the shadows of the western world.
