Member of Parliament, Afenyo Markin has broken his silence on incident that led to his invitation by Ghana Police Service.
Just hours ago, the Minority leader in Parliament was invited by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly assaulting a police officer during a demonstration.
In a new statement, the Member of Parliament said he was struck by the police officer first on the left side of his chest which got him dazed.
He narrated his own side of the story about ow everything unfolded at the demonstration which led to his actions.
“I write to strongly condemn the reprehensible and disgraceful act of violence perpetrated against me by a uniformed police officer, Constable Forson, at the entrance of Parliament House during today’s peaceful and highly successful “Save the Judiciary” demonstration,” he stated at the beginning of his statement.
“In that moment, I spontaneously protested his conduct, asking why he would seek to harm me. The Inspector who was facilitating my access, along with other officers, quickly intervened and assisted me into the restricted area, where I had to lean against the wall at the entrance of Parliament House to prevent myself from collapsing,” he added.
Earlier yesterday, The honourable Minority leader was involved in a heated moment with a police officer.
Things got a little physical with the Member of The seen throwing his hands on the said Police Officer, who he identified as Forson.
