The United States, through AFRICOM, has accused Captain Ibrahim Traoré of using Burkina Faso’s gold reserves for personal protection rather than the welfare of its people.
The accusation according to reports, was presented during a scheduled U.S. Senate hearing.
Many across the African continent believes the accusation is a blatant attempt to undermine Burkina Faso’s sovereignty and control over its natural resources.
Some African leaders also condemned the West’s continued interference in African nations affairs and their attempts to control resources in the continent.
Many across the world also supports in Captain Traoré’s efforts to reclaim Burkina Faso’s gold for the benefit of its people and to resist neo-colonial pressures.
